Vivianne. Newborn.
The prettiest little girl. Ohhhhhh, just look at those lips!
The Wexner Center gives these blankets to each new Buckeye born in 2015. Vivianne was one of the first born to receive hers.
Tell us about that first moment when you saw your baby.
I had a c-section, so the first time I saw Vivianne was when the nurse walked by with her in the operating room. Her arms and legs were stretched out and she was pink! Our baby girl was FINALLY here! They took her over to another area of the operating room to check her vital signs, then I heard her cry out and I knew she was ok. Later they brought her over to me and I was instantly in love with our perfect little girl.
What was your baby’s birth weight and length?
Vivianne was born on 1.23.15 at 8:52 AM. She weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces, and was 19 inches long.Is there a story behind your baby’s name?
One of my favorite movies is The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood (it’s also a great book). I love the names of the characters – they are a little different and beautiful. One of the main characters is Viviane and they also call her Vivi. I love the name and that it means full of life. Jay and I changed the spelling from the movie/book to Vivianne to honor Jay’s grandma, Annie. Vivi’s middle name, Jean, is Summer’s middle name, as well the middle name of Summer’s mom and Summer’s sister. It is also the middle name of Jay’s aunt who passed away not long after we were married.Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood? Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share?
We knew we wanted children, but waited a while to have one. When we found out we were pregnant, we were so excited and couldn’t wait for our baby to arrive. I didn’t realize until she was here just how much I wanted her. I didn’t realize just how much I could love someone and I love her (and Jay) more every day.
Funny story: The three of us were on our way to a pediatrician appointment and needed to stop at the store. Jay ran in while Vivi and I waited in the car, both of us in the backseat of our SUV, which just happens to have dark windows. As it was January and quite cold outside, he left it running with the heat on for us. A Delaware County Sheriff’s deputy parked next to us and began peering into our vehicle. He could see the car seat with a baby in it and he looked very upset. I waved to let him know that I was sitting there with her, and that we did not just leave our one-week old baby alone in the car. He then noticed me, smiled and walked away. For a moment, I thought he was going to break into our SUV and take her away! He was so mad at first and I wanted to shout “NO she’s not alone and we’re not THOSE people who leave their kids in the car in parking lots!”
What did you like best about your experience with Crystal Jo?
Crystal Jo has provided us with beautiful pictures of our daughter. She perfectly captured the moments of Vivianne’s birth without us even noticing she was there, including special photos of Vivianne with each of her relatives. It means so much to us to have pictures from this wonderful day, and we’re so happy she could be part of it. For me, it is even more special that she captured photos of the birth that I was not able to see because of the surgery. She was so patient and gentle with Vivi during her newborn photo session – playing music and carefully and gently posing her (even though Vivi didn’t always want to cooperate)! Thank you so much for the beautiful pictures!
