Here are a few fun facts about this sweet baby boy…

Tell us about that first moment when you saw your baby.
I was in absolute awe of how my husband and I had created this tiny, perfect being. After they placed him skin-to-skin on my chest, I remember staring down at him and feeling an immediate bond. It’s incredible how within just seconds, he became the center of our universe. In that moment, I knew our lives had changed forever.

What was your baby’s birth weight and length?
6 lbs 13.8 ozs & 20 1/4 inches long (though a couple of days later he measured in at just 18 1/2 inches at the Pediatrician)

Is there a story behind your baby’s name?
Charles is a family name (my Great Uncle/my Father’s favorite Uncle). Charlie was always my front runner as a boy’s name, but TJ took some convincing. We had a list of 8-10 boy names we seriously considered and had it narrowed down to four by the time I was induced. As entertainment during my 29 hour induction, we polled over fifty people (family, friends, co-workers, and L&D staff) on our four remaining boy names and Charles received the most votes. After meeting our little man, we agreed that “Charlie” fit him perfectly and officially decided on it before going to sleep on his birthday.

Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood?  Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share?
Parenthood has been absolutely amazing and I am shocked at just how little I miss the things I thought I valued most in life (mostly sleep and showering/looking presentable). Having a baby puts your entire life into perspective. TJ and I have learned to laugh through our parenting fails and are having a lot of fun learning about our little man. I will never forget TJ’s first diaper change on the night after Charlie was born. As a NICU nurse, I thought I would take the reigns and teach him all about the diaper changing process, but Charlie had other plans. In my nine years as a nurse, I have never seen so much sticky, thick, meconium. We ended up covering four diapers, two blankets, a t-shirt, countless wipes, and our hands and arms in our little guy’s poo. We were hysterically laughing by the time it was over.

What did you like best about your experience with Crystal Jo?
We loved how creative and flexible Crystal Jo was! She truly gave us a family centered experience and even let our crazy hound in on the action! Even though she had sick kiddos and a potentially sick husband at home, she treated us as though we were her top priority. We cannot thank her enough for creating such a positive and wonderful experience! : )

Here are a few fun facts about this little beauty…

Tell us about that first moment when you saw your baby.
Clint got to announce “it’s a girl!” and I think my reaction was “seriously!?” since the whole pregnancy I thought we were having a boy. I just couldn’t believe how perfect she was. And seeing Clint’s reaction was priceless. He couldn’t stop watching her and when he finally got to hold her it was obvious that she already had him wrapped around her finger!

What was your baby’s birth weight and length?
7 lbs 11 oz (the doctors / nurses were taking bets that she would be 9+lbs)

Is there a story behind your baby’s name?
I’ve kept a healthy list of names throughout most of the pregnancy and narrowed the list down every few months based on Clint’s reaction when I read them out loud. We didn’t know what we were having so we had a short list for both a boy or a girl leading up to the delivery. Clint already liked Charlotte and one day we were going thru his family history and there was another Charlotte in his lineage. That pretty much sealed the deal if it was a girl. And he’s already adopted the name “Charlie” as her nickname.

Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood?  Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share?
I’m surprised at how natural it has been to be a parent. Instinct really does kick in almost immediately. Since we’ve had her home … she’s pretty gassy … and poops a lot. Clint had never changed a diaper before but he has quickly become a pro. I sat back and laughed the one time he had to use three diapers on one changing because she just wouldn’t stop going!

What did you like best about your experience with Crystal Jo? We love working with Crystal Jo. She makes us feel like old friends. There’s no one else we’d rather have helping us capture our special moments as a family!

Here are a few fun facts about this little guy…

What is your favorite memory during your child’s first year of life?
Mom- We have so many wonderful memories I don’t think I can choose! I guess I will have to go with the day he was born. We anticipated his arrival for what seemed like forever and I’ll never forget those first quiet moments we got to share as a family.
Dad- It’s not a specific moment in time, but at some point (maybe around 10 months) he started to point at things with his chubby finger at say what we interpret as “What’s that?” He always looks so inquisitive when he does it and now, he loves for us to describe what he is pointing at.

Do you have a funny story or something that happened in her first year that you’d like to share?
Mom- Well this has happened a couple of times now but Parker has been known to “help himself” to other people’s food. First, it was his friend’s quesadilla at daycare and most recently he “noticed” that the boy next to him in the church nursery wasn’t eating his cookie…naturally, he helped himself.
Dad- It doesn’t take any detective work to realize that Parker eats well.  One day I came home from work and Marisa says: “Guess what you son did today at daycare?……He stole a quesadilla from the kid next to him?” It made us laugh pretty hard to imagine him finishing his meal and then plotting to find more.

What age/month has been your favorite and why?
Mom- I have loved each stage for different reasons but I think my favorite so far has been 6 months. He was able to sit up and started eating solid foods. I was also off for the summer so it was nice to spend the days exploring new things together.
Dad- Around 7 months.  This is when he started to get really excited when I walked in the door from work and started to laugh and make a lot of verbal cues unprovoked.

One word to describe your baby is…
Mom and Dad- Determined!

What is your child’s favorites…
Animal: Dog! Parker loves his dog, Milo
Food: any fruit and yogurt
Toy: Mom- His play kitchen, Dad- Hedgehog
Song or Book:Favorite song: 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
Favorite Book: Dada! by Jimmy Fallon

What was your favorite part of your session with Crystal Jo?
Mom- Parker had a great time working (playing) with Crystal Jo! He was so interested in her camera. She was so patient with him.
Dad- How much Crystal Jo seemed to be enjoying being at our home taking pictures of Parker. (He was being pretty silly and really liked her camera.)

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Bride: The most memorable moment for me was our first look. Words can’t even describe how Justin made me feel just by the way he was looking at me.  He was so handsome, especially seeing him so dressed up outside of his USN dress whites and blues.
Groom: Turning around and seeing Jen for the first time.

What was your favorite detail?
Bride: All of the gorgeous lights in the venue.  There were string lights everywhere that were just stunning, and there were string lights as a backdrop behind our seats for the reception that many guests were able to use for their own beautiful photos.

Groom: My favorite detail was the lighting of the venue.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?
Bride: Just have fun with all the planning and try not to let small issues become bigger than necessary.  Remember that the reason for all the planning is to celebrate the love and happiness between you and your future husband, so that is what is important.
Groom: Get a timeline from all your vendors and go over it with them to make hard times. Also try to get a sound check with the DJ.
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Bride: Nope 🙂 Although not every single detail was perfect, it was the BEST DAY EVER and we were so lucky to spend it with so many loved ones. I married the man of my dreams, so what more could I ask for?!

Groom: Nope.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We haven’t honeymooned yet, but we are going to Honolulu, Hawaii in April!
How was your experience with Crystal Jo Foto?  If you have a favorite memory with her, please share it.
Crystal Jo is AMAZING!!  She makes you feel so comfortable and like part of the wedding party 🙂 My favorite memories with her (besides my awesome wedding day) would include growing up around her at gymnastics and continuing to cross paths  with our careers coaching and judging high school gymnastics! She’s always helpful and genuine in any aspect.  Plus she looks so good in our furs ha!
