Here are a few fun facts about this awesome family…

Tell us a little about your family dynamic.  How you met your husband, how long you’ve been married, names and ages of the children.
We met through mutual friends many years ago. We were friends for a long while before we started dating! We have been married for 4 years. Gabe just turned 3 and Veronica is 9 months old. Gabe is such a great older brother, he loves to make his sister laugh!

What do you look forward to most this holiday season?
We love Christmas! Our favorite thing to do together is decorate the Christmas tree. We have pretty silver ornaments and family ornaments to tell the story of us: things we’ve done together and places we’ve traveled. It’s always fun to relive our memories!

What is your favorite memory of past holiday seasons?
Our first Christmas with Gabe was so special, and this will be our first Christmas as a family of four!

Does your family have any special traditions during this time of year?
We spend as much time together as possible! We take time off work to just unwind and enjoy each other’s company.

If you had a $100 bill in your back pocket to spend during the holidays, you’d buy…
So many Christmas lights! We want to put up a lot of lights outside the house this year!

What is your favorite holiday song?
“The Christmas Song” sung by Perry Como is a favorite in our house!

What was your favorite moment during your session with Crystal Jo?
We had so much fun with Crystal! I loved when the kids made each other laugh!

Here are a few fun facts about this little guy…

Tell us about that first moment when you saw your baby.
Luisa: As soon as the doctor held him up, my first thought was “Well, he’s definitely a Murney!”
Sean: I literally had no thoughts. My mind was blank and I was crying. I was just so happy and couldn’t believe he was finally here.

What was your baby’s birth weight and length?
8 lbs 6 oz, 20.5 inches long

Is there a story behind your baby’s name?
His full name is Calvin John Keola’okekai Murney. Calvin is a name we both liked. John is Luisa’s father’s name. Keola’okekai (Kay-oh-lah’okay-kai) is Hawaiian for “life and strength of the ocean”. Sean’s family is Hawaiian and it is tradition to give the baby a Hawaiian name. When we were in Hawaii visiting family earlier this year, Sean’s Tutu (grandmother) and cousin helped us decide on the name after his cousin had a dream about the three of us at the beach.

Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood?  Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share?
Sean: A great first for me would be changing his diaper at 3 am and after getting him bundled up to go to sleep again hearing that he has once again pooped in his diaper.
Luisa: Instinct definitely kicks in right away! I didn’t believe it before he was born, but somehow you just know what to do. A first for me would be getting thrown up on, pooped on and peed on all in the same day by the same small little boy.

What did you like best about your experience with Crystal Jo?
She was so patient with our little guy. She took her time to make sure he was comfortable and allowed him time to calm down after each adjustment to make sure she could get a great shot!

Adelaide, tell us how you really feel.  HER MIDDLE FINGER!  Cracks me up!columbus_photography-11
columbus_photography-13columbus_photography-14

Tell us about that first moment when you saw your baby.
Andrea – Overwhelming relief, joy, love, and just profound happiness.

Adam – The first moment I saw her actually took a little goading from the labor and delivery nurse during the pushing phase.  I saw the crown of her tiny little head, but it was definitely not the first look I was expecting.

What was your baby’s birth weight and length?

7lbs 3oz and 20″

Is there a story behind your baby’s name?

We were looking for another “A” name to go with Andrea and Adam and after trying out a number of names it just seemed like the one that fit best.

Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood?  Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share?

Andrea – I never thought I could feel such a strong drive to sacrifice myself to do anything for my little Aidy Bug.
Adam – The poop. A little bit of the pee, but mostly the poop.  Also I always thought that I would break babies when I held them and frankly never really liked to hold them.  With her it has been the complete opposite and I can’t get enough snuggles.

She has a wonderful tendency to involuntarily (we’re giving her the benefit of the doubt) flick us off.

What did you like best about your experience with Crystal Jo?

It was amazing to work with Crystal Jo again and to have her steadying hand get some amazing pictures while we were walking around shell shocked from our first few days of parenthood.

Tell us about that first moment when you saw your baby.
We were so happy to find out we had a healthy little boy! It was a great surprise. We loved everything about him, especially all his hair!

What was your baby’s birth weight and length?
7 lbs 9 oz
20.75 inches

Is there a story behind your baby’s name?
I have always loved the name Gabriel and Gabe for short. Michael is Jim’s dad’s middle name.

Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood?  Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share?
It’s amazing how your priorities change in one day.  People weren’t lying when they said be careful changing baby boys diapers. I will always remember watching Jim get peed on for the first time!

What did you like best about your experience with Crystal Jo?
Her patience. The shoot took so much! She was great with Gabe!
