Some fun facts about these two newbies…
Tell us about that first moment when you saw your babies.
I couldn’t believe they were finally out and that they looked so different from Eva.  Tom said he was glad they looked healthy, but I bet his first thought when he saw Lucas was, “Look at his feet!” since he was born breech. 🙂

What were your babies’ birth weights and lengths?
Chase was born first at 6 pounds, 8 ounces, 20 1/4 inches long and Lucas was 7 pounds, 1 ounce, 21 inches long.  (although they were measuring about 2 inches shorter at the pediatrician a few days later…)

Is there a story behind your babies’ name?
We created a short list of names at least 4-6 weeks before they were born, and just never got around to discussing it.  We knew their middle names would be family names.  I went in for my induction at 6pm and I don’t think we were left alone until almost midnight to figure out the first names and what family name sounded good as a middle name.  They were born just after 5am.  Chase Philip is after Tom and his Dad and Lucas James is after my Dad.  We waited to get a look at them before figuring out which name they would get and each bears a resemblance to the grandfather/family they are named after.

Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenting twins?  Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share?
So far, they are still so sleepy and much more content than their older sister ever was – really surprising (thankfully).  It makes sense, but surprised me that when they lay together they are the calmest when laid in opposite directions – in all my later ultrasounds, one baby was always head down and one was breech.  When we lay them that way, they will fall asleep where Lucas almost always curls into Chase and puts his feet on his face – so cute.  Even weirder is when they’ve been side by side and fall asleep and end up in the same position (arms and legs stretched out into the same positions).
What did you like best about your experience with Crystal Jo?
We’ve loved our experience with Crystal Jo – the best has been how well she relates to the kids (particularly Eva) and their response to her.  Calm and happy.
