JT. Newborn.
Some fun facts about this new (BIG) peanut…
Tell us about that first moment when you saw your baby.
When my doctor placed him on my chest all I could think was “Wow! He IS a big baby!” JT had been measuring full term since 37 weeks. When he was born, the cord was wrapped two times around his neck and he was “stunned” (meaning his body was in shock from delivery) so he was blue. He came to quickly but all I could think was “Wow, he’s bigger than our first!!” I was also excited to see that he had strawberry blonde hair!!
What was your baby’s birth weight and length?
8 pounds 14 ounces
20 1/5 inches tall
Is there a story behind your baby’s name?
JT stands for “James Thomas” which is a family name on Kyle’s side of the family. JT is actually the fourth to be named James Thomas Butler… JT shares his name his uncle, great-grandfather and great-great-great grandfather. We chose to call him JT due to already having a Jim, Jimmy and James in our extended family already.
Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood? Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share?
It’s definitely different having two children now. The biggest surprise is how much energy I have on such little sleep! I forgot what the first month with sleepless nights was like with a newborn – but when you have a 2-year old to also take care of, your body kind of rallies to give you the energy to make it to that one golden nap time each day when everyone can get some sleep
Another surprise is just how much you are capable of loving. When you find that special someone and get married you think “wow, I’ve never loved so much.” Then you hold your first child, and although it may be a different type of love, you still think it’s impossible to feel love any stronger. With our second child here now, I have just felt my heart grow even more
