What is your favorite memory during your child’s second year of life?
It’s a series of memories really. As we calm down for bedtime he loves to just sit and snuggle. Often he likes to either have his belly rubbed or to play with a hand. I can just feel his whole body relax. Little boys once they stop moving at top speed can just be so sweet. I cheerish these little moments.
Do you have a funny story or something that happened in her second year that you’d like to share?
Right after he turned one we moved to a new city and new house. The first day in the new house he kept putting his head to the carpet, butt in the air, and plowing from room to room. He had discovered carpet for the first time! Lol. Apparently he much preferred the feel of the soft carpet to the hardwood floors. He still does this occasionally and it just cracks me up.
18mo-22mo. His personality really started to shine through and he can finally communicate more. It is amazing to learn for the first time about your child as a unique individual. No longer a baby but starting to turn into a boy with his own natural skills and interests.
Animal: shark, do do do do dodo
Food: Spaghetti
Toy: cars/trucks
How was your experience with Crystal Jo?
Audra. Newborn.
Some bunny loves you.
The sweetest in Daddy’s arms.
Here are a few fun facts about this new little bundle of joy…
Tell us about that first moment when you saw your baby.
This second delivery was such a breeze compared with the first that I was mostly shocked at how quickly she was there! I do seem to remember thinking she looked quite a bit like Adelaide (our first). Dad says he remembers seeing her with me for the first time more than that initial sight of her.
What was your baby’s birth weight and length? She was 7 lbs 7 oz and 21″ long
Is there a story behind your baby’s name? We all have names that begin with A, so that was important to us and Audra just seemed to sound good with the rest of our names and was a pretty unique name that you don’t hear often. Her middle name is very special because it is also my (her mom’s) middle name. I was given it because both of my aunts’ names are/were Janet. The one that lived close by (my dad’s sister) was one of my favorite people in this world and we lost her a little over a year ago to ALS so we wanted to honor her and carry her name on in the family.
Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood?
Are there any funny stories or firsts that you’d like to share? Bringing a baby into the world during a pandemic has been interesting to say the least. She was born on the 12th right around the time when things started getting cancelled in the sports world and it all went spiraling from there. We felt very prepared for baby 2, but now with daycares closed, we are having to adjust how we are tackling our parental leave time with the addition of our 3 year old at home. We’re grateful for some unexpected family time, but these first few weeks with a newborn as well as a high energy 3 year old with no playgrounds or outlets for her has proven to be quite challenging.
What did you like best about your experience with Crystal Jo?
Crystal Jo is like family to us at this point 🙂 She has given us so many amazing photos through so many phases of our lives. She does such an amazing job with babies and really helped our 3 year old feel special as well. We’re so glad we were still able to get these even though so much was going on in the world at the time.

of the children. I met Tyler in a dive bar on Halloween! I was helping a friend open up and meet guys and I ended up meeting my future husband. We’ve been married for 7 lucky and amazing years! Clara is 4 1/2 and Connor is 1 1/2.
What do you look forward to most this holiday season? Family time!
Does your family have any special traditions during this time of year? I make a bunch of coffee cakes for neighbors and friends so they don’t have to worry about Christmas morning breakfast. It was a tradition my grandma started and I’m excited to continue making them with Clara!
If you had a $100 bill in your back pocket to spend during the holidays, you’d buy… Erica’s answer: Use it toward buying a plane ticket for Clara’s godmother (Tyler’s Aunt) to come visit from Florida! Tyler’s answer: buy a round of drinks for a group of friends!
What is your favorite holiday song? Erica: O Holy Night, but all verses, not just the first! Tyler: Little Drummer Boy Clara: Jingle Bells
What was your favorite moment of your session with Crystal Jo? Erica: We will always be loyal customers of Crystal Jo-our engagement, our wedding, and beyond. She is so amazing with making instant connections with our kids and getting us socially awkward folks to relax and just have a good time! She always makes such wonderful moments to cherish. Tyler: Getting our daughter back into the car after we left! (The meltdown of all meltdowns happened right after our session…I’m glad it happened after and not during our session!) Clara: The peanut butter jelly game! Connor: Playing with the bells! (He can’t talk yet but I’m sure that’s what he’d say!)
