Hello? Is anyone there? Mmm…this phone cord tastes so good.
A couple of years ago I shot some senior pictures of Deven Cruikshank.
The Cruikshank’s recently contacted me to shoot some images for their upcoming advertising campaign for their plumbing company. You can find Cruikshank Plumbing HERE.
The ideas we threw around…FUN, water, the bath tub, FUN, scuba gear, bubbles, children shaving, little businessmen and BIG muscles. Oh, and FUN.
I think we CAME and conquered! Thank you for the opportunity Cruikshank Plumbing…I had a blast shooting my first commercial job. 🙂
Check out the stream of water coming from the ceiling!
Dalton and James (grandsons of the owner) having some fun with the bubbles and water. I adore little boys with long hair. So cute!
And in the suh-weet shower!
I LOVE this!
Check out this big guy! Oh, see the faucets coming out of the mirror. I want this bathroom!
Little business men. 🙂

Valentine’s Day has arrived. And with it, our little girl. Her first Valentine’s Day. Of course I have to make it EXTRA sweet. Y’all know I’m a holiday fanatic. Now I have even more reason to go crazy over Hallmark holidays, red and pink dish towels and the cheap $3 wreaths. For my girl. My momma always went crazy for any holiday and I will never forget all the memories that came with them. I wanna do the same for my girl. So here you have it. A day to JUST love.
And wear red. And everything in the drawers that has hearts or resembles this holiday.
Jason. You are the best Valentine in the whole wide world. And the best daddy. And for that reason, we wanted to make your day special. So Pix and I had our own little photo shoot. Just with you in mind. Here’s what we came up with…
I soon realized (after setting my ten second timer and running back and forth) I was not dressed in red and I had no shoes on. A great reason to play dress up!
This hat was a Valentine’s present from Aunt Jillee and Grandma Lori. Pixie Jo came to visit me while I was judging a gymnastics meet on Saturday. She was super excited to get this beautiful hat!
Now we match!
Love you too.
I put this dorky angel headband on her. Realize it’s dorky and go to take it off and she starts smiling. So here you have it. A happy happy girl that looks like she’s wearing a white feathery wig.
My girl does all kinds of awesome things now. Like stares into your eyes. This is big around our house as the past seven weeks she hasn’t really been able to focus on faces. But now, she stares. With so much love. It melts my heart. Here’s one of those little looks that are just irresistible.
Look at that Pixie Pie!
This is exhausting!
And because it is love day, Pixie Pie and I turned up the Valentine CD we got from Grammia and slow danced around the house. Lovin’ every bit of today.
Special visitors to bring Pixie Pie her first Valentines. A Shrek valentine. Perfect for the mule. And a cute panda bear one from Devan and Zoey.
White Castle has a very special Valentine’s Day dinner with tablecloths, candles, flowers and a special menu! So yes, we’ve started a new tradition for our family. A classy dinner at White Castle.
She’s dreaming of a crave case and onion chips.
Our beautiful server bringing around desserts on her heart tray with her heart necklace and her heart bracelet. Love it.
My de-lish dessert. Straight from the wrapper.
Family dinner.
When getting that last picture off of the point and shoot camera I found these others. They made me giggle so I thought I’d share.
Last day at the gym. Whoa. That Gym on Grandview.
My gymnasts holding my big belly.
See, big belly. Ignore all those wonderful spots. More reason to use my big camera all the time.
Happy Love Day.
Drew. Six Months.
He is such a handsome little fella that smiled the entire shoot. He’s the reason I love what I do!
Hello little ladies, my name is Drew.
And his momma sure is a beauty!
Fiona Rose. Four Months.
Sweet as can be. So much love and wonder…in such a little body.
Happy girl.
Love this so!
Pretty blue eyes.
Fiona’s mommy said this is how Fiona looks when she is laying on her changing table waiting for mommy to dress her pretty.
This day, these moments, go down in time. December 23rd, 2010. The best day of our lives. Our little girl arrived. Happy and healthy.
Here is a video slideshow of Pixie Jo’s Birth Story…

We arrived to the hospital after having contractions for about four hours. They were painful and were about 3 minutes apart. To my surprise, I was not progressing. So the nurses had me walk. For TWO hours. I was praying they wouldn’t send me home. I was praying this wasn’t false labor. Around and around we walked the same path around the nursery. I looked in at all the little newborns hopeful one of those would soon be mine. The picture below is us, very VERY happy when we were admitted and officially in active labor.
This look on my face here. It is happiness. So happy that this day has finally come. My girl will soon be in my arms. Happy.
Contractions!
Birth photography has always been of interest to me. My dear friend Cindi was over one evening during the end of my pregnancy. I showed her a slideshow of another photographers birth photography. Jason, Cindi and I watched with tears in our eyes. These were random people we didn’t even know and we were all emotional. I told them I would love to have our little girls birth documented. Jason joked “have Cindi do it!” What a great idea. Cindi has been by my side through most of my life. All of the big moments. Why not this one?! And why not just set my camera to the appropriate settings and have Cindi fire away. And that she did. And we were more than thrilled with the beautiful results. These are all raw emotions caught “on film”. We’ll have these to cherish forever. I really cannot thank you enough Cindi. These are SO VERY precious to us.
Jason’s grandmother praying for the safe delivery of our angel. A moment during my labor that I will remember forever. It was very touching. Not a dry eye in the room.
Favors I made for our hospital guests. Buckeyes…mmm.
Newest lil’ Buckeye. Pixie Jo Holt
Meet Jen. The best nurse in the world. Jason and I workout with Jen at That Gym on Grandview. Jen and I have been discussing babies for a long time. She’s been there through it all. The pre pregnancy questions, fears and excitement. The big belly aches and pains. And the beautiful labor and delivery of our girl. She was SO amazing. There is nothing like having your very own personal nurse by your side during such a dramatic time. Thank you Jen. We love you!
And of course mommy was there. Right there the whole time. Holding my hand and my heart.
The worried soon-to-be daddy. I can only imagine how emotional this experience was for him. We are waiting on the doctor to arrive. Ready to push. Whoa.
This moment right here has defined who I am. A mommy.
And a proud daddy. (And grandmothers)
Ten fingers and ten toes.
I LOVE this!
She took our breath away.
Roberta and Steve welcoming Pixie with Pixi Sticks!
Gifts from Nanna and Grandfather. Pixie’s (and my) middle name is Jo after my grandmother. When she was living, she carried a Raggedy Anne and Andy wooden purse. Dad gifted Pixie Jo this very purse. How cool?!
See my naked girl screaming her head off back there on the scale? Aww.
The nurses brought Pixie Jo into our room on Christmas morning in an OSU stocking! Best Christmas present ever!
The stockings and knitted hats were handmade by a group of volunteer elderly women.
Merry First Christmas baby girl.
Getting dressed in our going home outfit!
Hat handmade by our gymnastics friend Paula. Dress from Jan (family friend). Booties a gift from Gramia (from Arts in the Alley). And blanket made by Great Great Grandma Browning. (It is the blanket I came home from the hospital in.)
Happy and sad. Bittersweet, really. Let’s go start our life little girl!
This shoot was an emotional one for me. Kim was supposed to have her little girl in January. I was supposed to have my little girl in December. Somehow, someway, Kim got her baby girl first. And boy, oh boy was I jealous. I was 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant when I headed over to meet little Delaney. I was having all of those “end of the road” pains. Tired of the belly. Tired of the hundreds of phone calls and texts…Is she hear yet? How are you feeling? Tired of waking up in the middle of the night and feeling that small pain. Hopeful. Hopeful that small pain was going to turn into a big contraction. Scared. Tired. Hopeful. It was time. It was my time. But first, first it was Kim’s time. And so, here I was, big belly and all, going to meet little Delaney Eileen.
Kim opened her front door with this teeny tiny little girl. Teeny tiny. Four pounds tiny! I melted. This shoot brought me to this raw place of extreme awareness of what was coming my way. Excitement. Joy. That little body gave me so much hope that day. Hope that I would too, have a little healthy bundle of joy. More to come soon on my bundle of joy. For now. Let it be Delaney’s time. Welcome to the world little teeny tiny bundle of joy!
Little smirk.
This cracks me up. She is giving me the look. Are you done yet?
Thank heaven for little girls.
Naked baby in her crib.
The most beautiful baby shower EVER. And it was all mine!
Mary Anne (dad’s better half) and her lovely daughters hosted my lovely shower. It was more than I could have ever asked for…with fresh flowers and pretty cake. Details everywhere. Delicious food. Just amazing, really.
Thank you for making the day so special. And thanks to everyone who came and brought such amazing gifts for Pixie Jo. She is so very blessed.
Beautiful day. Location. Party!
This was Jason’s great grandfathers rocking chair when he was a child. My mother-in-law asked Roberta’s mother to make some cushions to match the nursery. So precious.
On the cake table sat a collection of photos…Jason when he was a baby, my newborn photo and Pixie in the womb. 🙂
Contemporary Catering By Mary Anne (614.284.4212). She made the best brunch ever! Everyone is still talking about the food! So yummy!!
Cake designed to match the fabric. LOVE!
Momma Mia made the “pretty in pink” diaper cake. I never realized how many diapers those things hold! She’ll be set for….two days.
Jen. My roomie from college. Flew in from New York City to surprise me at my shower. Can you say SHOCKED, I was! Thank you, Jen. Walking into the shower and seeing you sitting there really meant the world to me. I can’t wait for you to be the best short Aunt ever! Oh, and all the little I love NY baby stuff was ADORABLE!
The fabric that is now Pixie’s nursery “theme” and colors was placed so pretty all around the shower. See here. In the flowers.
Light girl and Berta. My two wonderful photographer friends. Thank you for capturing the day just how it was…BEAUTIFUL.
Light girl made tons of these onesies. All with different photography sayings. I never thought a onesie could make me cry until I opened all of these personalized shirts. Thank you Ana. One of my all time favorite gifts!
Oh and Pixie has to have her Harley gear!
Beautiful piano music played in the background.
So many personalized and touching gifts. I can’t wait to bathe her and put her in this soft little robe made just for her tiny body.
From Etsy store Lila Frances. I’m addicted.
All of these beautiful ladies helped make my day so special. Thank you!
Her adorable coming home dress from Aunt Jan.
Addison. All the way from North Carolina.
And my BFF Jess.
This was really about 1/8th of the clothes she got. They wouldn’t all fit on the clothesline.
It’s not a party without Pixy. Stix.
Oh la la.
Pixie kicked the whole party. She was lovin’ it just as much as I was!
Morgan and Marlin put on some awesome games!
Thank you everyone. Much love!
Oh WOWZERS! My house looked like this for 3 days as I tried to figure out what to do with all of her stuff. So thankful!
A BIG thanks to everyone for making me feel so loved. Pixie Jo is already SO spoiled! Much love and appreciation -Crystal Jo
My very own maternity photographs.
Now I’d have to say my wedding day was the HAPPIEST day of my life. Afterall, I did marry the man of my dreams! So, when pondering where to take our maternity photographs, it was sort of a given….the grounds where we promised our lives to one another. The Kelton House. Such a quaint little garden. Such happy memories. We are so very excited to share this place with our little gem. Soon. Well, when it warms up.
I’d like to give my sidekick {and dear friend} Roberta a big shout out. She was EXTREMELY nervous to do this shoot. I kept telling her, it will be okay, I know exactly what I want, we can do this! And we did. And sure enough, the photos are beautiful. There is something about seeing me and my hunny together. At the very location where we got married. With a precious life in my tummy. It, well, it’s just love.
So enough chitter chatter…you wanna see. Here they are. Thanks Berta. Love you!

It was the most perfect day. I will never forget it. My fairy tale.
Happy!
The Holts. All 3 of us.
See. She’s in there!
I LOVE this. Love love.
And this.
Thank you Kelley. My hair and make-up was GORGE! I felt beautiful. Need yours done? Kelley Reid (Salon Lofts – 614.301.7603)
Yes, I have that line on my tummy. And it’s grown above my belly button now. Part of this whole pregnancy thing. My friend Cindi calls it a mud vein. Gross! I’m not a fish Cindi!
Giving Pixie Jo a bit of a stretch!
This last one is my ultimate fave. I’ve already had an album made of these precious photos…and this is the cover image. Love so real you can just touch it.
Thank you again Roberta! These photographs mean the world to us and we will cherish these forever.
Tagan stopped by to give Pixie a present. 🙂 After playing with him for a couple hours, we had to head outside with this little man in his adorable outfit to grab a couple shots. He was all smiles until we pulled out the camera. Tagan, little stinker, you!
